If you really knew me...

I just finished reading Courtney's post on "if you really knew me" and thought it was so perfect. I love reading her blog about her and her husband's adventures and now their new bun in the oven! I am stealing her idea and rolling out some random real life facts about myself, mike and our lives.

If you really knew me...

- You would know that I was bald until I was three. My parents had to stick bows and headbands on my head because everyone thought I was a boy!

-You would know that I am basically allergic to everything: dust, grass, trees, flowers, cats, pollen.... Most naturally occurring things make me go into a sneezing frenzy. My friends said back in high school: "bless you times infinity". They got tired of saying it so often!

-You would know that I hate change. It gives me massive anxiety and I cry over a lot of things. Moving to Paris was definitely the most stressful thing I've ever done. I'm working on embracing change instead of freaking out like a five year old child. After all, change is the only constant in our world!

-You would know I love country music! I love it so much and don't care who judges me! My friends from home appreciate its greatness but everyone I've met in Paris thinks I'm weird. Country music has gotten me through so much in my life and I would not trade it for the world. I am also insanely jealous of everyone who got to go to the "Brother's of the Sun" Tour! Seriously. Not. Fair.!! All time favorite song? Red Dirt Road by Brooks and Dunn

-You would know that I am a really good sleeper. I love sleeping in and now that I can't do it because I have to be at work at 7 or 6 am Tuesday-Sunday...well, I just don't know how I will survive! I might become an avid napper.

If you really knew Mike...

-You would know that he loves mobile technology. He loves keeping up on all the new cell phone trends and releases. So far, the iPhone is still the winner!

-You would know that he loves Colorado over California. Mountains, hiking, shooting, open spaces...

-You would know that he makes my favorite breakfast perfectly every time! Eggs in a basket. His are delicious and every time I try it turns out awful. He has even tried to teach me and I still snuff it up every time! He's got skills.

-You would know he hates country music *gasp!*. I know, he listens to this strange genre called "alternative".

-You would know he (and his family) are die hard Buffalo Bills fans. Its tough but they have stuck it out through the many years! Sundays usually involve a good amount of beer during football season :)

If you really knew us...

-You would know we met in our sophomore year high school science class. He played football, I was a cheerleader...We know. Cliché! Post-college we reunited much less awkward.

-You would know that we argue about who is the funnier one in the relationship. Clearly, its me.

-You would know brunch is totally our thing. We do it really well. We also do frozen yogurt really well too.

-You would know we are still trying to figure out what we are doing to do with our "lives". Does anyone ever really figure it out??

-You would know we love going to the movies. We used to go all the time but no scary movies. Scary movies are off limits!

-You would know that we are obsessed with our dog, Taylor. She is the world's cutest. I miss her!

-You would know that we still have five months and 4 days until we see each other again.

Find out anything new?! Write up your own facts and link up with me! I'd love to read your answers! Have a great week!

Thank Goodness for Apple

If you are just joining this blog, Welcome! I'm so glad you are here! Let me get you up to speed and introduce some of the key players around here.

Me...oh hi! You can pop over a read that fun little "about me" section but if that just takes too much effort I will tell you myself. I'm a 24 year old California girl who picked up and moved to Paris to study French pastry. Yep, its awesome.

This is Mike. He is the coolest person I know (besides myself, obviously) and he is the love of my life. We were living in the beachy town of Pacific Beach in San Diego before Paris came into the picture. Now he is living in Colorado and holding down the fort until I get home. I miss him like crazy. Want to know more? Read the "us" section. Visiting Paris April 19.

This is Taylor. The world's cutest dog. No, I'm not lying, she is cuter than them all. We picked her up at a little rescue and no we don't know what type of dog she is. She is the fastest on the beach and a great cuddle buddy. I miss my little muffin!

Meet the Campbell Clan. A bunch of crazies, I tell you. Also the best family in the known universe. Ryan, Jenna, Mom, Dad, Me, Brandon and of course, Boomer! Visiting Paris June 10.

There are a lot of other important friends and family (you know who you are!!). You will just have to come back and meet them later, as they come into play. For now, I'll introduce you to those wonderful ones who are coming all the way to Paris this year. I can't wait!!

Okay, back to regular scheduled rambling...

If it wasn't for my iPhone, iPad and Macbook (yes, I am Appled out) I don't know what I would do. If I had decided to do this whole "move to Paris" thing a few years back, I don't think I would have made it!

Thanks to the pure genius of Steve Jobs I am able to communicate and "see" my friends and family back home and they are able to actually "see" where I am, my apartment, the city. If I only had e-mail or snail mail....ugh! I can't imagine! haha, spoiled tech generation.

Mike and I (and Tay!) get to facetime everyday. Taylor just seems extremely confused by it all. She can hear my voice but has NO clue where it's coming from and just looks around like "umm...wtf?!" I love our virtual hang time and waking up to e-mails from him since he is going to sleep when I am waking up for school. It's the little things that make my freezing cold morning soo much better.

Of course, the internet is not the same. I miss them, my family, his family and my friends so much! Okay, let me clarify that this does not mean that I don't like being in Paris or anything of the sort! I've said a million times how much I love this city and am I so lucky to be here! But that doesn't mean I don't miss the people most important to me! I think now is a good time to start the countdown.. 39 days until Miguel arrives in Paris!! AH! :)

I am thinking you are all missing the true star of this blog. It has been a while since she has made an appearance...
little muffin! As cute as ever keeping warm in Colorado.

So Long 2011

Wow, is it New Year's Eve already? I feel like I was just here in Mexico celebrating the beginning of 2011 with Mike, my brother and mom. Is it really time for it to start all over again?

2011 was a record year. A really great one for me. I finally got over that whole "I wish I was still in college" thing that haunts you for years after graduating and realized that growing up is kind of awesome too. Your 20's are probably some of the best years of your life (or I think so anyway) and I am loving how it is playing out so far.

Let's look back on some of the highlights from 2011.

1. Mike and I moved into together. Okay, technically that was a 2010 accomplishment but lets mark that its been over a year now and all is well! I absolutely love our little apartment (even though it is probably one of the smallest you can find in SD) and it makes me smile thinking I get to see him every morning and every night.

2. We got Taylor! You all know how ridiculously obsessed I am with our puppy. She pretty much rules this blog and is the main attraction wherever she may go. She can be trouble sometimes, like when she chews up my cookbooks or ate Mike's computer charger, both our phone chargers and my headphones...but, look at this face!! How can you stay mad??

3. My family has remained safe and sound. No, did not say SANE...that is a completely different story. But they are in good health and good spirits so I am thankful for that. I love my family.

4. My friends are healthy and happy and working towards their goals in life. I also made two new amazing friends this year that I am SO thankful for.

5. I made the hardest decision I have yet to make in my life. To pick up my life and move to Paris, France for a year. It is getting closer and makes me more nervous with each passing day. To be honest, the hardest part is not the whole living in a foreign country thing, but the whole "Taylor is going to forget me!" and not seeing Mike every single day. It is going to be a challenging year but we will all be better for pushing through it. I am so blessed to have an incredible support system between Mike and my parents. You can't achieve your dreams by sitting on your booty waiting for them to come to you, right?

2011, thanks for being SO amazing to me. 2012, I hope you are up for the challenge. You have some big shoes to fill.
